Just had a delicious lunch at this lovely pub. |Everything about it was superb. The hosts Tony and Claude were welcoming and professional in every way. The menu was fantastic and different to standard pub grub. The dishes we shared were so …
So we held a family celebration here this last weekend. 30 guests, some staying overnight, arriving at 12 pm with a meal arranged for 6pm.
All the staff except the owner Tony were extremely helpfull and courteous.
The soup provided,as arranged, for our lunch was tasty, but the portion was very mean.
The main meal was of variable quality.
Those who chose soup as a starter were given the same as at lunch time.
The Vegan options were amended from the general menu , the starter was almost inedible and the main course was described as " like baby food". I cannot understand why such a supposedly top class restaurant could not produce a decent Vegan meal. The fish option was very unpleasant.
Having said that the other meals were tasty and well cooked.
We had a wonderful day with our friends and family however Tony made it very clear to me from the get go that we were not the kind of clients he wanted in his establishment. Funnily enough he was happy to take our money......l doubt l will ever return.
My parents and I visited as they have just moved to Wincanton and had admired the pub during their visits before moving here.
It was an impromptu visit on a stunning day after we had been pumpkin picking.
They were very busy and we had not booked.
They managed to squeeze us in and we are SO grateful.
I had soup and a warm chocolate desert and my parents both had the roast beef which is the best cut of meat we’d all seen served in a restaurant.
The food came in record time.
The desert was exquisite!!
We had a wonderful experience from start to finish from the gent behind the bar and our server; a fabulous Italian gent. Sorry to not have names!!
Anyway I had to leave a review because it was a first class experience.
Thank you team!!
This was our 'go-to' hotel in the West Country, but after last week I'm not so sure: there seems to have been a wholesale change of staff. The housekeeping was poor, with dust and blown light-bulbs in the bedroom and bathroom and the …
Arrived to a very friendly welcome from the owner.. Nice bar with well kept Butcombe and a good reasonable wine list. Room comfortable. Very good evening meal and breakfast. All staff friendly and efficient. Would thoroughly recommend
We go here on special occasions and today was as fabulous as ever. Food and service was superb. I don’t understand bad reviews. We always receive a warm welcome and today was particularly special as we were celebrating the forthcoming …
Stunning hotel, lovely place to eat, we both had the belly pork, with deep fried potatoes, why advertise roast potatoes then serve deep fried? The pork was served with mushrooms and small onions and carrot purée, no gravy instead a red wine …
Love this place. Food is always good. Chicken Caesar is delicious. You can order the lunch size which is a generous portion or you can order the dinner size which is quite big.
Service is great. Friendly staff.
Dog friendly which I love.
A really pretty building and great decorations. Love the cow pictures!
Also the restrooms are so clean. A nice touch with the clothes to dry your hands.
Would definitely recommend.
Bedroom was as expected. A twin. Shower/wet room very unsatisfactory. Rusty around shower and no shelving for toiletries. We later found out that as commendable as it is to have one we were in the disabled room. We asked if we could be …
